Project Overview
In collaboration with Project Forwarders Maersk (formerly Martin Bencher), Profile Park has reached a significant milestone with the arrival of MV Nunalik to Dublin in March. This marked the delivery of 11 Wartsila diesel engines, along with associated generators, radiators, and turbochargers, signalling a significant step forward in the development of this crucial infrastructure project.
The arrival of MV Nunalik to Dublin heralded the delivery of 11 Wartsila diesel engines, each weighing 107 tons. These engines were carefully coordinated and arranged for discharge at Dublin Port’s newly refurbished berth 28 on Alex Quay West. These Wartsila engines underwent partial stripping at the factory in Finland, reducing their weight from 157 tons to 107 tons. This optimisation enabled their transportation on a lighter vehicle system, meeting route and permit requirements efficiently.
Situated in West Dublin, Profile Park is being developed as a gas-fired peaking power plant, similar to Grange Castle. Its primary function is to meet the high demand for electricity, particularly during morning and evening peak usage times.
As a gas-fired power plant, Profile Park aligns with sustainability goals by offering a cleaner alternative to traditional fossil fuel-based power generation methods. The photograph above shows the engines being discharged for storage at Dublin Port with the first engine delivered to site on 21st March.
